Beautiful Belize …

What to expect: Scenic beauty, blue ocean, water activities, food, good people and much more .. A carribean destination that has a lot to offer

We visited Belize in August of 2022.

We spent 5 days in Belize – 4N San Pedro!

Day 1– Reached Belize City and took a short flight to San Pedro

You have two options for getting between Belize City International (BZE) airport & San Pedro, the only town on the island of Ambergris Caye: taking a 15 minute island hopper flight directly to/from BZE or a 90 minute water taxi trip to/from downtown Belize City

Road to Hana
Road to Hana!

This is very scenic as well as curvy drive all the way to Hana. On your way you can stop for lunch at Mama’s Fish House – https://www.mamasfishhouse.com/ for delicious fresh caught fish which includes – Ahi, Ono, Mahimahi, Lobster & Crab :). It is an high end restaurant and serves super fresh sea food. Strongly recommend to reserve a table before you go to avoid wait or disappointment. The shore near the restaurant is a also a great spot to relax and gaze at some wild turtles swim in the water! After that you can drive all the way to the Black Sand Beach and in between stop at various scenic spots for pictures, or take a dip in the waterfalls.

Waianapanapa Black Sand Beach, Hana

Although we turned back from the Black Sand Beach, the road goes to Kipahulu – in the south-east corner of the island – and then ends in a dirt road that takes you to some more picturesque locations. This back-road to Hana is narrow, partly un-paved and prone to mud slides, and hence if you still have energy after the 50+ mile curvy drive and decide to still go – just make sure you have a sturdier car!

Day 2– Scuba Diving

With Our Scuba Diving Instructor: Steven from Fiji
With Our Scuba Diving Instructor: Steven from Fiji

On Day 2, we decided to do Scuba training & diving with http://mauidiving.com/ which gave us an opportunity to watch a variety of colorful fishes and turtles. We did their “Intro to Scuba” certification. You can also explore their other dive packages. Scuba certification costed us around 110$ per person.

Day 3– Relax & Explore Kihei town

Maui Mornings!
Maui Mornings! The best way to start your day.

After the strenuous scuba diving experience we wanted to simply relax. On our last day we explored Kihei town and spent our morning on the beach. The town had lots of restaurants, cafe and surfing schools. Dont forget to stop by at the http://kiheicaffe.com/ for good food!

Hawaii sunrises and sunsets are the best. Its worth waking up to the sun.

Day 4-  Travel to Kauai

Kauai is known as the Garden Island. It offers truly mesmerizing views and would definitely remind you of a scene from the Jurassic World! Interestingly, the movie has been partly shot on this island. You can kayak on the Napali coast, snorkel at the Poipu beach or hike the Kokee state park.

Take flight to Lihue airport, Kaui, Stay in Princeville for a quite and romantic experience. http://www.hestara.com/

Day 5- Ocean kayaking across the Napali Coast : http://www.napalikayak.com/

This is a strenuous 17 mile kayak trip. Fortunately, due to weather conditions we could only do 12 mile 🙂 It is strongly recommended to do this only if one is physically fit and active. Ocean kayaking is a completely different ball game and Kaui’s rough waters make it all the more difficult. So be sure you build some arm strength prior to the trip.

For the adventure seekers in us, the tour was worth every bit. Annie is an excellent guide and a gem of a person. We truly enjoyed the tour.

Day 6- Queen’s Bath, Princeville

The last day in Kaui we hiked to Queen’s Bath. It is around a 1.5 hrs round trip hike. Fairly easy but gets steep at some points. Make sure you dress comfortably and wear shoes with good grip. It gets slippery on rainy days.

Day 7- Travel to Honululu, Oahu

Oahu is the most commercialized island in Hawaii. You will find all big shopping brands, chain restaurants and tons of tourists from all over the world. Stay near the Waikiki Beach. Rent a scooter or moped so you can ride along the beach.

We kept the best experience for the last. The last picture we clicked says it all 🙂
